Dear Friends of Radiant Futures,

Many of you may remember Radiant Futures closing our Transitional Housing Program, “Second Step,” in 2016 due to cuts in funding.

Although we were one among several agencies who experienced the same fate, we didn’t fully understand the impact this would have on survivors of domestic violence and human trafficking at the time.

Survivors face extraordinary barriers to stability and time is needed to fully achieve long-term independence. Many have had to leave their homes, jobs, and support networks behind as they sought safety from situations of violence and abuse.

Starting from scratch and with hardly any resources to draw on, many in our programs find that the amount of time provided by traditional emergency shelter programs is simply not enough to fully achieve long-term stabilization.

In 2019, Radiant Futures made the strategic decisions to reopen our Transitional Housing Program which provides housing for up to 24 months, and move it into the same facility that houses our emergency shelter.

Over these past few years, both programs have grown and a shared space is no longer conducive to meeting the needs of survivors. That is why we are excited to announce a capital campaign to repurpose an inhabitable structure and rebuild a home to exclusively house our transitional housing program.

This endeavor is quite ambitious given the fact that we are still navigating the impacts of COVID, but it is critical to the health and wellbeing of survivors, and after all, those are who we are committed to serving.
