In March we celebrated International Women’s Day, participated in National Youth Violence Prevention Week, and this year we saw a National School Walkout and a March for Our Lives. The message is clear: ENOUGH is ENOUGH. Standing for a violence free society is the first step to ending family violence.
ENOUGH with liberal Gun Laws: According to Everytown, women in the US are 16 times more likely to be shot and killed than women in other developed nations. And “in an average month, 50 American women are shot to death by intimate partners, and many more are injured. Nearly 1 million women alive today have been shot, or shot at, by an intimate partner.” Gun rights should not supersede human life.
ENOUGH with looking the other way with sexual misconduct and sexual assault: The #MeToo movement was spurred by several sexual misconduct/assault cases. In the last 20 years 17,700,000 women have reported a sexual assault.
ENOUGH with Child Abuse and Endangerment: In January, a Perris California couple was arrested for torturing their 12 children, some of whom were adults.
Time Is Now: The International Women’s Day Theme for 2018 reflected the need for change. The need to stand up, to stand out, to listen, and to become a part of the change we need in our world.
