In December 2024, Felix entered Radiant Futures’ Safe Accompaniment Family Engagement (SAFE) Program with the hope of reconnecting with his two young children. Felix had never met his youngest child and had not seen his older one in more than a year. Understandably, there was some concern about how the first visits would go. Toddlers often need time to adjust, and both parents and program monitors prepared for a slow, cautious transition.

To everyone’s surprise, the children warmed up quickly. What began as a careful one-hour visit soon grew into joyful two-hour sessions within just a month. The children eagerly looked forward to each visit, often wishing their time together did not pass so quickly.

During these visits, Felix has created a nurturing and playful environment. He talks with his children about their favorite colors, toys, and movies. He comes prepared with food and activities, making each gathering something his children can anticipate with excitement. The SAFE Program’s structured support, combined with Felix’s loving commitment, has given his children a consistent opportunity to build healthy, positive memories with their father. These moments lay the foundation for trust, connection, and healing.

Radiant Futures offers the SAFE Program completely free of cost providing safe, structured visitation and exchange services for families affected by domestic violence and abuse. The program is built on dignity, fairness, and respect, ensuring that every family member experiences compassionate care. Families begin by securing a court order and then contacting Radiant Futures at 877-531-5522 for a referral, as walk-ins are not accepted. Within 24 to 48 hours, a program specialist follows up to schedule intake appointments. Once both parents have completed the intake process, the case is carefully reviewed for eligibility. If approved, a trained monitor is assigned to guide the family through orientation and schedule the first visit, ensuring that every step of the process is supportive, structured, and focused on safety.

SAFE provides more than supervision. It offers families the chance to rebuild trust, restore connection, and create moments of belonging in a safe environment.
